BIOGRAPHY
Mrs. Monroe has been teaching for 21 years. She taught Kindergarten for 1 year at St. Mary's School in Williamston in 1984. The following year she began her teaching career in Webberville Elementary School, first in a Kindergarten position for 2 months and then moved to being the Readiness Teacher for 8 years. She then taught Special Education in the Basic Classroom for 10 years teaching Kindergarten through 6th grade. In 2003 she became a First Grade teacher, which is the position she now holds.
Mrs. Monroe has had an extensive amount of training beyond her teaching degrees in the areas of Reading, Math, Behavior Management, and Teacher Leadership. She has been a participant in Project Read, Reader's Workshop and is currently in LIFT training, which involves assessing a student's knowledge of reading and teaching student's strategies to become a fluent reader while reading for understanding. Mrs. Monroe has participated in many Math Your Way Workshops, which involves teaching students mathematical concepts using all their senses and working with manipulatives. She has also been involved in many behavior management workshops to aid all students in becoming successful learners. Mrs. Monroe has been a Teacher Leader for the Elementary School for the past two years, which in conjunction with the Ingham Intermediate School District has set and implemented goals for our school to best meet our students' needs and to continue our quest in becoming a premier school.
