Words can be fun

“Creating an interest in words can increase vocabulary. Helping students to understand that words can be both fun and powerful in communicating a message also helps develop vocabulary knowledge.” (Quoted from a research article by Debbie Lozo and Vicky Carter. There are many ways parents can “create an interest in words.” Read a poem, tell a joke, sing a song, or visit new places and talk about them. Provide new experiences to learn new things and read books about far away places. Challenge your child to teach you something new or tell you a joke. Words can be fun-it all depends on how you use them!
