Library Club

Join the Library Club!

Advisor: Joyce Felzke

Purpose:

To encourage reading and the use of libraries and media while enjoying the company of "fellow" book-lovers who share these common interests.

Activities:

Over the years we have done the following:

Conduct book discussions and book talks; hold book fairs (includes planning, promoting, and selecting titles); learn the art of storytelling and then perform for elementary students; participate in "Read the Book/See the Movie/ Discuss and Compare" excursions; promote the annual bookmark contest; help out with various library tasks (become an "honorary" library assistant); create displays; take occasional field trips to authors' homes and libraries on weekends and in the early summer; and pursue many other miscellaneous projects related to books and the enjoyment reading.

Dates for events and meetings:

Usually Tuesdays after school, 3:10 - 4:00; possibly some after school meetings on Fridays and during seminar.

Spring Book Fair: March 16 - 18, 2006

Officers: Erica Yambrick, Student Council Rep for Library Club

Qualifications for membership: All students in grades 7 - 12 who have an interest in reading, books, and libraries are welcome. It should be noted that because of other commitments, it is not necessary that a student attend all of the meetings to maintain membership. However, members should try to get involved as often as possible.
