Webberville Band Rates Superior
The Webberville High School Marching Band experienced first hand that hard work and dedication pay off, and the reward came in the form of a division 1 - superior rating. Saturday, October 8 th , marching bands from around the area converged on Jackson Northwest High School to compete in the MSBOA marching band festival. Each band demonstrated their half-time music and marching drill for a panel of judges. The Webberville half-time show featured the music of the rock group Queen. They opened with "We will rock you", went into "Another one bites the dust" and closed with "Bohemian Rhapsody". Under the guidance of new band director Gary Franks , the band received a 1-superior rating. Franks stated, "I was very pleased with the way the band performed and more than excited that they received such high marks. Not only did they get a first division rating, but the music judge and the marching judge gave them straight A's on their score sheets."
Webberville was the only class D school in attendance that earned a first division rating. What made the experience even more rewarding was the fact that the music, and the marching drill, were both arranged by Franks. "The kids were very excited on Saturday," he stated, "I think the success we experienced will generate more success for the Webberville bands in the future."
