Young Voters Cast Their Ballots
On Monday, November 1 st, Webberville Elementary students got a hands-on lesson regarding the democratic process and choosing a president. Every kindergarten through sixth grade student got the chance to cast their ballot for the presidential race. A portion of the elementary school was turned into a voting precinct complete with election workers, ballot boxes, and voting booths. Working the “election” were members of the elementary student council who had the job of instructing each class in how to fill out their ballots. Election results on Tuesday declared that Webberville Elementary students had re-elected George W. Bush as the next president with 174 votes vs. John Kerry with 84 votes.
