Technology Overhaul at Webberville Schools
Technology in the classroom today is no longer a luxury for our students; it is a requirement if we want our students to compete with the best. Our technology program has undergone a dramatic overhaul so that we can provide our staff and students with every opportunity in regards to technology in the classroom.
The elementary school now has 1 projector room, TVs in every classroom which includes 28 new 36” TVs, 8 new 27” TVs, and a VCR-DVD combo in the classrooms. A new computer is in every classroom, a computer lab with stations for 31 students, and a new network printer for the building.
The secondary school has projectors in main classrooms, TV’s in other classrooms, a new media center with student computers, new CAD lab, new journalism/graphics arts lab, 2 new general computer labs which equals a total of 5 computer labs all with new computers. In addition, there are new computers in the classrooms for teacher use and new network printers.
District wide we now have cable in every classroom, a new state of the art Voice over IP phone system with a voice mailbox for every teacher. New high speed internet connection, new district web site, personal web sites for every teacher to post class information, new email accounts, new high speed internal data network, new paging system, and classical music piped in the halls.
The new computer labs will allow us to expand our curriculum and increase our student’s ability to have access to computers for their core courses. The new projectors, TVs, and computers in the classrooms will allow our teachers to teach in a variety of new and exciting mediums, which will in turn help students learn better.
The new phone, email and websites will allow teachers to better communicate with parents in a variety of mediums. Teachers will be able to post lessons, assignments, help links, contact information, grades, and behavior reports on the web site for parent and student usage. The new phone system allows every staff member to have their own phone and mailbox, providing students, and parents easy access to the staff.
All the changes in technology will enable our staff to access technology for use in the classroom, allow our teachers to communicate with parents via the website and voicemail, and will directly impact our students by giving them access to state of the art technology.
