M.I.T.E.S. State Project Fair
The Michigan Industrial and Technology Education Society held their state project fair on May 13 th-15 th at Central Michigan University. Over 4,000 student entries were on display from around the state. Webberville Industrial Arts and Technology Education, lead by teacher Chuck Coe, had 28 students submit 33 entries in the competition. Webberville students collectively achieved their highest standings since being involved in the competition. They were presented with the following awards:
1 st and a Divisional Award – Hannah Bloom and Krysten Luther – handicapped device
1 st and a Traveling Trophy – Jordan Brooks – Co2 car.
1 st place – Mike Monroe – Invention and research paper, Katie Pringle – Research paper,
Jessica Hunt – Teaching aide
2 nd place – Jessica Jesson–Research paper, Mike Monroe and Tyler Feeney – handicapped device, Ken Wakeman – Co2 car, Chris Giddings – Teaching Aide
3 rd place – Carrie Benjamin – Research paper, Ryan Utter – Research paper, Stephanie Pollok and Jessica Wegienka – handicapped device, Ross Pollok – Co2 car, Jason Lane – Teaching aide, Fletcher Reed – Pair of turned lamps
4 th place – Morgan Chosczcyk – Research paper
5 th place – Morgan Chosczcyk – Invention, Chris Giddings – Co2 car, Matt Gardziella – Research paper
6 th place – Ken Malley – Co2 car, Mark Fitchett – Co2 car
7 th place – Laura Rogers – Invention, Robert Mosher – Teaching aide, Jordan Brooks – Turned lamp
8 th place – Megan Wilson – Invention, Mike Oberly – Co2 car
10 th place – Jessica Hunt – Lamp
Honorable Mentions – Jeramie Ferriss – Co2 car, Fletcher Reed – Turned lamp and mantle clock , Jordan Williams – Pair of turned candlesticks, Jeff Raschke – Turned table.
Chuck Coe, commented, “Congratulations to all the students on the effort and persistence it takes to succeed at this level.” For those who would like to see the projects, they are currently on display in the Webberville High School library.
