Opening the Doors to Music

Do you remember what it was like to be a part of the school band or orchestra and the excitement you felt when you performed? Can you recall the pride you felt as you watched your own children march in band or compete in an orchestra festival? Now you have the opportunity to make it possible for another child to receive the gift of music by donating your used band or string instrument to Webberville Community Schools.

Starting in May, the Webberville Fine Arts Council is embarking on an aggressive campaign to expand the fine arts programs in Webberville Community Schools. In partnership with various businesses and individuals, the Webberville Fine Arts Council is seeking donations of used band and string instruments, which will be used by students who cannot afford to purchase or rent instruments of their own. In addition, the council is seeking financial donations in an effort to raise $52,000 to purchase new instruments and refurbish the donated instruments.

The goal of the Webberville Fine Arts Council is to create opportunities to expand the number of students participating in the fine arts program. The district has adopted classical education in support of the school’s strategic plan. A classical education requires that every student, K-12, participate in the fine arts. To accomplish this goal, every student who chooses band or orchestra must have access to an instrument to participate.

Many businesses, community leaders, and individuals have already committed to helping support students who want to participate in the fine arts at Webberville Community Schools. If you are interested in making a donation or financial contribution, the following businesses have agreed to be drop-off locations for donated instruments and/or for a tax deductible financial contribution:
