Job Description: Technology Director

Primary Function:

Provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation and coordination of the district’s instructional technology, instructional software and staff development. Also, to provide leadership for selection, implementation, maintenance and replacement of the district’s information networks, software and instructional technologies.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:
MA or MS required with an emphasis in one or more of the following areas: Curriculum Instructional Design and/or Instructional Technology
BS in computer science, math, technology education or business education desired
Certification in one of the following areas or equivalent: CNA, CNE, Microsoft Certification, A+, C++, etc. required

 

Training and Experience:
Minimum of two (2) experience as a Technology Director or Technology Coordinator preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience preferred.
Experienced in applying brain based research to the integration of technology in curriculum, instruction and assessment

 

Demonstrated Technical Skills:
Organizational skills, ability to present materials to small and large groups, knowledge of K-12 curriculum, application of software assessment tools and application of instructional technology techniques in the classroom, selection and implementation of educational technologies, and a strong foundation in research based instructional strategies

 

Human Relations Skills:
Ability to relate to students, parents, staff, teachers and members of the community

Assigned Responsibilities:

1. Guides development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional technology

2. Keeps current of developments in instructional technology, instructional software and provides leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the district educational programs

3. Works with principals and teacher committees in orgainizing and coordinating grade level and departmental meeting, in order to effect continuity and articulation of the instructional technology and software programs throughout the district

4. Studies, evaluates, and recommends adoption of new instructional technologies, educational software, administrative software programs.

5. Coordinates all formal efforts of the professional staff in projects of instructional technology and software programs. Serves as a resource for the building principals.

6. Provides expertise in “best practices’ in the integration of technology into curriculum design

7. Assist staff in implementing strategies of assessment using technology

8. Provide professional development in the use of technology into curriculum

9. Coordinate the procurement, deployment, replacement, articulation and maintenance of all instructional technology, educational technology and software programs

10. Supervise technical support staff

11. Manage the website and development of the website to maintain currency and enhance instructional support

12. Provide budget oversight for areas of assigned responsibilities

13. Assume other responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent

 

Terms of Employment:

52-week contract with 20 paid vacation days and 10 paid holidays

 

Evaluation:

On or before March 1st of each fiscal year
