Job Description: Director of Marketing

Primary Function:

 

To promote Webberville Community Schools and ensure that a positive image is communicated for the enhancement of the district’s programs and services

 

Qualification :

 

Education:

Associates or Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or related field. Additional coursework or experience in public education preferred

 

Training and Experience:

Professional experience in marketing, education, and/or mass media preferred. Knowledge of marketing educational programs desired. Ability to work with and/or in a variety of mediums

 

Demonstrated Technical Skills:

Organizational skills and creativity in developing publications for the promotion of the district. Mastery of oral and written communication skills essential. Fundamentals of layout and design of brochures, websites and marketing bulletins desired

 

Human Relations Skills:

Ability to cultivate positive public relations and perceptions on behalf of the school district with students, parents, staff, teachers, and members of the community.

Graphic Arts Student Intern

Receptionist Student Interns

 

Assigned Responsibilities:

 

1. Develop and implement marketing efforts for Webberville Community Schools.

 

2. Develop and maintain internal and external communications efforts with the goal of stimulating a better understanding of the role, objectives, accomplishments, and needs of the organization.

 

3. Supervise and coordinate the preparation of all district-wide publications/productions including but not limited to the following: district newsletter, superintendent newsletter, annual report, board briefs, bond materials, district video and packages for real estate, newborns and new families/students.

 

4. Serve as the liaison between the district and the news media. Supervise the production and distribution of appropriate news releases. Send news releases about school and Board of Education activities to the various news media. Arrange for press conferences as required.

 

5. Work with administrators in developing brochures, flyers, handbooks, displays, specialty items, and special events, in support of buildings and programs.

 

6. Writes and produces marketing literature with the objective of promoting the positive qualities and accomplishments of the district.

 

7. Maintain Marketing/Communications budget.

 

8. Plan printed forms, letterhead, etc. cooperatively with administrators.

 

9. Develop and maintain employee and community partners recognition program.

 

10. Assume a leadership role in student recruitment and retention.

 

11. Serve as a member of the district web team, supervising overall image and coordinating district information on the BCPS website.

 

12. Lead district-wide strategy and associated subcommittees to cultivate a culture that people want to be involved in.

 

13. Work closely with Superintendent in crisis communication management.

 

14. Coordinate and prepare Superintendent’s schedule, communications and filing

 

15. Prepare Board meeting agendas and related work

 

16. Answer phone and screen calls for Superintendent

 

17. Attend board meetings to provide updates on Marketing issues

 

18. Attend Board meetings to take minutes

 

19. Chair the school district’s Marketing Committee

 

20. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

 

 

 

Terms of Employment:

 

In effect from the 1 st day of July through the 30 th day of the following June

 

Evaluation:
