Webberville Community Schools Board of Education Adoption
Assist the secondary principal in providing school wide leadership and responsible for the district’s athletic, intramural and physical education programs.
Qualifications: Education: MA in educational leadership, curriculum, supervision, athletic administration or related fields from an accredited university preferred BA or BS degree in education with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate credits hours in education required
Training and Experience: Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience preferred Knowledge of theory, research methods, and best practices in education Minimum of five years of successful varsity coaching experience preferred
Demonstrated Technical Skills: Planning and organizational skills, knowledge of age appropriate curriculum, application of appropriate assessment, knowledge and effective use of age appropriate, research based instructional strategies. Planning and organizational skills, knowledge of age appropriate intramural and athletic programs Computer literacy skills
Human Relations Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively with students, parents, staff, and other members of the community.
Directly Responsible To:
Assigned Responsibilities:
1. Work cooperatively with the Principal in planning and administering all aspects of the seconary school program.
2. Assist the principal and staff in the administration of effective building discipline, dealing with specific cases as necessary.
3. Advise teaching staff on classroom management strategies.
4. Assist the principal in the evaluation of all programs and personnel in the secondary school.
5. Observe and evaluate teaching and support staff as assigned by the principal
6. Assist in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
7. Assist with the coordination of transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
8. Supervise student attendance, maintaining up-to-date records, developing attendance procedures, and notifying parents and agencies concerning violations.
9. Serve as the administrative head in the absence of the principal.
10. Administer the rules and regulations of the Board of Education as they apply to students within current school law.
11. Maintain effective relationships with school, community services, school agencies, and other areas of public relations.
12 Assist in plant operation and maintenance.
13. Represent the district on various regional, state, and national councils, committees, organizations, and commissions as designated by the principal, Board of Education, and/or Superintendent.
14. Coordinate the work of the advisors to classes and clubs.
15. Keep confidential information on students and/or personnel as necessary.
16. Assume the primary responsibility for the enforcement of the district’s athletic code of conduct and assures that all coaches
17. Schedule and secures valid contracts for all conference and non-conference athletic contests, and publishes, prints, and posts such schedules in a timely manner.
18. Arranges for athletic contest support personnel, and ensures the fair payment for such provided services.
19. Schedules and secures valid contracts for necessary referees for all athletic contests, and ensures the fair payment for such provided services.
20. Delegates to the provided high school staff secretary necessary athletic department paperwork, and supervises such work as to accuracy, promptness, and proper distribution.
21.Ensures administrative presence at each home athletic contest either by his/her own attendance and/or by arranging for a “Games Manager.”
22. Evaluates head/varsity coaches in writing at least once at the end of each season.
23.Provides the vision for the athletic, PE and intramural programs.
24. Aids the superintendent in the development of an annual athletic budget in time for the June preliminary budget adoption process by the Board of Education
25. Maintains an inventory of all school owned athletic equipment and uniforms; signs release orders to the payroll clerk when coaches complete all agreed duties, including returning, storing, and inventory of team equipment, uniforms and keys. Also, when all assistant coaching evaluations have been completed.
26. Assumes the responsibility of ordering all needed athletic equipment and uniforms
27. Arranges for seasonal athletic award nights, banquets, potlucks, etc. Work with high school secretary to secure the necessary certificates, medals, plaques and trophies
28. Represents the district at the athletic conferences meetings, regional and state athletic directors’ meetings and tournament drawings
29. Makes arrangements for the local opportunity for reduced fee physical exams for prospective athletes
30. Responsible for the K-12 physical education program, curriculum and instruction.
31. Cooperates with the community recreation programs in facility usage and development of age appropriate recreation and intramural programs.
32. Perform all such other duties as may be assigned to them by the principal or superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
Per administrative contract with the Superintendent and Board of Education
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually by the elementary principal and superintendent on or before March 1.
