CURRICULUM COUNCIL

Minutes from

March 24, 2005

 

 

Members Present: Dana Perry, Laura Bartel, Eileen Slider, Maureen Monroe, Christopher Card, Suzi Slater, Suzanne Cloudman, Brian Friddle, and Jerome Learman.

 

The minutes from the previous meeting were presented and approved.

 

Visual Arts:
This was tabled until a later date.

 

Early Childhood Developmental Delay (ECDD)

Two hour ECDD and then ECDD para-professional in ECDD room.

Two special education people in each building.

 

Developmental Kindergarten (DK)

Suzi Slater will present at the Board meeting depending on numbers in Kindergarten Roundup.

 

Alternative Education

Janet Reifenberg volunteered to teach Alternative Ed.

Program will begin after spring break.

Goal is to have up to 13 students.

Pilot program.

This will involve students not doing anything – not engaged – Grades 7-12.

It will be a self-contained classroom.

Chuck Harper is writing a grant for $15,000 for more social work service.

Give students a chance to succeed/better meet their needs.

Some students expressed interest in it.

ISS – some application for students who need it – backing off on this.

Down the road will not have an option for this.

Formal proposal at the end of the year.

 

Technology Update

Things happening in the summer.

Evaluate models at next meeting – testing some.

Remote/audio.

Distance learning lab – looking at option – permanent or mobile?

April 19 next meeting.

One day tech training in summer.

Website.

Adopt software to manage information.

Make more things available online.

Server storage.

 

Misc – Eileen Slider

Problem based learning team from elementary.

Science demonstration in morning Tuesday, May 10 th.
